Are there any must see places to go to in San Francisco besides the regular tourist stuff like Alcatraz, the Golden Gate Bridge, and the redwoods? I couldn’t really find much car stuff to look at besides a few museums.

The in and roads around Stinson beach are excellent. Marin point light house is a cool sight. Muir Woods is a good little 1-2 hour hike. I’ve been to the Bay Area several times, feel free to ask questions.

Go to the Exploratorium, you won’t regret it.

The botanic gardens are fantastic. As is everything in San Francisco. If I could afford to live there, I would.

California Academy of Sciences.

Kinja'd!!!

Rent something fun and drive down 1! Stop at all our beautiful (but cold and foggy) beaches! La Honda and Skyline are some of the best driving roads ever.

Kinja'd!!!

Check out the Sutro Baths!

Kinja'd!!!

Then go to Baker Beach!

Do you like mountain biking? Rent a full suspension bike from Epicenter Cycling in Aptos and take the shuttle to Demonstration Forest.

Car stuff? SF hates cars so good luck. Anything else more specific you’re interested in? Evidently we have a computer museum and a flight museum but I haven’t been to them.

I'll probably be getting a Camry for a rental, but the roads around Stinson beach look beautiful. Also, I will definitely visit the Marin Point lighthouse if I have any time left during my trip. Do you know any good restaurants in Chinatown?

I'm probably getting a Camry as a rental but those roads look like fun. Baker Beach was on my list of things to see but it looks like I will have to visit the Academy of Sciences and Sutro as well. I'm not really into mountain biking but I was planning to rent some bikes from Fisherman's Wharf.

I'll try it out in whatever the rental company gives me.

I unfortunately have not been to Chinatown there, but I have been to China and I think your best bet is to look where the locals eat and not the touristy looking places. Also the San Andrés fault is around there which is pretty cool to see.

I'll try to find some good restaurants then. Thanks for the advice.

The gardens look interesting. I’ll check it out if I get the chance.

House of Nanking. Be ready to be rushed, but it doesn’t matter cause the food’s so good you vacuum it down anyway!

I second Baker Beach (bring your swim trunks and a towel!). Twin Peaks is actually pretty nice right before sunset.

Go eat at Soto Mare. Awesome seafood, had it last year and will be going back in a few weeks.

Oh, and a SF restaurant recommendation: Burma Love. Just ate there a few weekends ago, it was amazing!

How far are you willing to drive? If you want an amazing drive, from SF get on HWY1 ASAP, take it to 92 in Half Moon Bay, take 92 East to Skyline, Take Skyline to La Honda (84) and stop at Alice’s Restraunt for lunch (full bar, good beers, and burgers), then take La Honda back down to HWY1 and either go right to go home or left to take HWY 1 South to Santa Cruz which is a fun beach town OR continue on HWY 1 all the way to Monterey which is a very cute beach town, especially if you have a wife/gf with you. Lots of nice restraunts and wine tasting rooms. Not to mention one of the best Aquariums in the country (we’re members)!

It’s a mini road trip but I live here and do some section of it pretty much every weekend. It’s that good.
